What If simulator - test other scenarios

Calculation3 min readUpdated: 2026-06

The What If simulator lets you modify key project parameters and instantly see the impact on sizing and budget, without running a full recalculation. It is available from the analysis page through the What If simulator button.

Simulator results are client-side TypeScript approximations. For official results, run the full recalculation with the Python engine.

For a solar project, you can modify irradiation, panel wattage, battery technology and DoD, autonomy, and system efficiency. For a pump project, you can modify daily volume, TDH, pumping hours, tank size, and pump efficiency.

1

Sensitivity bars

Each bar shows how much the result changes when that parameter changes. A long bar marks a critical parameter to measure carefully on site.

2

Percentage deltas

Positive or negative values show the difference from the original project. They help spot scenarios that need more equipment or reduce material.

3

Real-time energy balance

During solar simulation, SolarDim Pro checks whether PV surplus remains sufficient to recharge batteries. The green or orange banner updates instantly.

Common mistakes

  • Using simulator results as a final quote without rerunning the Python engine
  • Ignoring long sensitivity bars (critical parameters)
  • Changing several parameters at once instead of isolating each effect
