Configuring Time of Use slots
Configuration5 min readUpdated: 2025-06
Time of Use (TOU) programming tells the inverter when to use batteries versus panels. This physical configuration maps directly to the usage profiles entered in SolarDim Pro.
1
Slot 1: 00h–06h — Battery First
Inverter powers the house from batteries. Mode: SBU (Solar → Battery → Utility) or "Battery First".
2
Slot 2: 06h–18h — Solar First
Panels power loads directly. Excess charges batteries. Mode: SUB (Solar → Utility → Battery) or "Solar First".
3
Slot 3: 18h–24h — Battery First
Back to batteries for the evening. Same config as Slot 1.
| Brand | Menu | Parameter | Slots |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deye / Sunsynk | Work Mode | Time of Use | 6 slots |
| Victron MultiPlus | ESS settings | Scheduled charge | Unlimited (VRM) |
| Growatt | Advanced Settings | Time Segment | 3 slots |
| Axpert / Voltronic | Setting 01 | SBU / SUB mode | Global only |
On Axpert/Voltronic, there are no native time slots. You must wire an external relay or accept a global mode. Prefer Deye or Victron for systems requiring precise TOU management.
Common mistakes
- Leaving factory settings on a Deye/Victron inverter without configuring TOU
- Forgetting that Axpert/Voltronic units have no native time slots
- Configuring a TOU schedule that doesn't match the usage profiles entered in SolarDim Pro
